Truong Van Loc (born in 2008) has made a strong impression with his outstanding academic achievements and clear career aspirations in fashion communications. Following his accomplishments at the high school level, he is now looking toward a professional training environment at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam to further develop his expertise. Alongside studying additional foreign languages, Loc has also begun working with a journalism team at an early stage, gaining valuable hands-on experience. The young man hopes that this careful preparation will open up opportunities to work in an international environment in the future.
A strong high school academic background
At eighteen, Truong Van Loc has built an impressive academic profile, with a series of notable certifications and examination results. Specifically, he achieved an IELTS score of 7.0, an SAT score of 1510, a score of 9.5 in English in the 2026 National High School Graduation Examination, and 994 points in the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City Competency Assessment Examination. Alongside his strong foreign-language abilities, Loc also earned Third Prize in the provincial History Olympiad, demonstrating well-rounded intellectual abilities across both the social sciences and language skills.
These achievements provide a solid launchpad for Van Loc to confidently pursue admission to the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, a dynamic educational environment well suited to his future career aspirations. With a serious attitude toward learning, Loc views examinations as an accurate measure for developing disciplined thinking, the ability to perform under high pressure, and a commitment to continuously expanding his knowledge.
Maturing from fear
Few people know that, before achieving this impressive string of accomplishments, Van Loc once experienced regret after deciding to give up the opportunity to sit for the entrance examination to a gifted school because he lacked confidence in his own abilities. That hesitation became an important psychological turning point, prompting him to reassess himself and make a determined effort to change his mindset.
From that lesson, the young man chose to proactively face challenges and willingly take part in large-scale academic competitions. His willingness to take initiative and turn ideas into action helped Loc transform his regrets into a powerful driving force throughout his three years of high school, opening up numerous opportunities for personal development and allowing him to accumulate a wealth of life experience.
A dream for international media
Alongside developing his academic knowledge at school, Van Loc has taken a particular interest in digital media and international fashion. This passion has been nurtured through following collections by Dior and the runway shows of Aquafina Vietnam International Fashion Week. He aspires to help bring fashion designs closer to global audiences through journalism and digital media.
Loc’s long-term goal is to make his way to Paris, the fashion capital of the world, and work for fashion magazines or pursue a career as a fashion marketer. To prepare thoroughly for this plan, in addition to English, Loc is actively developing his French skills while also joining the Press Team of GFWAS 2026 to gain hands-on experience with professional media production processes.
A brand-new perspective on personal pursuits
Sharing his perspective on success, Van Loc said: “Sustainable success means having the courage to overcome prejudice, daring to pursue one’s true passions, staying true to one’s personal values, and creating positive impact for the community.” For him, the value of a young person lies in perseverance and a lasting spirit of contribution, rather than merely in titles or income.
Sharing a message with young people of his generation, Loc emphasized: “Do not let your own fears or the prejudices around you overshadow your true dreams. Every challenge is an opportunity to grow stronger, because ‘fire tests gold, while hardship tests one’s strength; as long as you persevere through it, you will surely reap the rewards you deserve.” This sincere message also serves as the guiding principle that helps the young man move forward with confidence on the path ahead.
