Khac Viet – Choosing peace, returning in awe

Must Read

After 5 years of absence, singer Khac Viet does not return quietly but chooses to come back with freshness, full of emotion and rich in humanity. “Nguyen Lam” (On My Will) is not just a song, but a new declaration about music, family, and true love in the life of the artist who was once associated with tearful ballads.

When an artist learns to re-love life

While many artists choose to speed up to maintain their presence, Khac Viet goes against the flow by actively stepping back—not because he ran out of ideas or inspiration, but because he wants to live more fully in his role as husband and father. Together with his wife, DJ Thao Bebe, raising their twin children, Khac Viet builds a warm, simple home filled with emotion.

He couldn’t hide his emotion when talking about the challenging pregnancy journey: “We tried countless pregnancy tests before we dared to believe we were expecting.” In the beginning, the couple was so busy they had to send their children to be cared for by their grandparents. But over time, he realized: money is not everything. “I earn enough and I choose to live enough, not running endless shows, only accepting 10 shows a month, and mostly spending time at home with my children,” he shared.

“Nguyen Lam” – A song of a heart at peace

Khac Viet’s return this time is not simply about releasing a new song but also a transformation in his musical mindset. “Nguyen Lam” carries an optimistic, warm spirit, completely opposite to the painful hits that once made his name like “Yeu Lai Tu Dau” (Re-love Each Other) or “Anh Khac Hay Em Khac” (Did You or I Change). The song is a portrait of simple but profound love that he lives every day.

Written during late nights when his twins were asleep, “Nguyen Lam” is soaked with personal storytelling, each lyric reflecting his experiences: sacrifice, small but sacred things in a relationship. “I no longer write music to make the audience cry. I write so they can see hope,” he said. This is the music of a man who has gone through many emotional stages and chooses to stay with simple happiness.

From music to fatherhood

Khac Viet is now not only a singer but also a father willing to get messy with his children, a man who helps his wife take care of the vegetable garden, takes the kids out to play, and plays the guitar for them. He doesn’t put expectations on his children but lets them develop naturally. “I let my kids play in the dirt, fall and get hurt—that’s how they grow up strong,” he said with a smile.

His love with Thao Bebe has also changed. If before it was candles and roses, now it’s financial planning, taking the kids to school, and preparing family meals. “The two little ones are like two tails, always following wherever we go, but that ‘busy-ness’ is actually our greatest joy,” he shared. The couple is even considering having another baby when the twins start first grade.

Defining music with responsibility and sincerity

“Nguyen Lam” is just the beginning of a new chapter for Khac Viet. For him, music is no longer a race for rankings but a bridge of emotion between people. “I don’t chase trends. I just want to keep sincerity—that’s what has defined Khac Viet from the start,” he said. From million-view hits like “Ngoc” (Silly Man), “Buoc Qua Doi Nhau” (Passing Each Other), to his concert “Gap Go Thanh Xuan” (Reunion with Youth) that drew 15,000 people, Khac Viet has proven that the more genuine the music, the more it touches the listener’s heart.

The Khac Viet of today is no longer the young man singing sad love songs. He is a fulfilled man, and his music is the truest reflection of his life. It is this very maturity and calmness that makes him shine in this comeback—not with noise or scandal, but with a single song that gently touches the most tender place in the audience’s heart.
