Ali Larter leans into her boldest role yet as Landman gears up for season 2

Must Read

As production on the second season of Taylor Sheridan’s Landman ramps up, Ali Larter is unapologetically embracing her provocative role—and the heat that comes with it. With new cast additions and deeper drama promised, the hit Paramount+ series is set to deliver its most intense season yet.

Ali Larter isn’t backing down

Ali Larter knows exactly who she’s playing—and she’s not making any apologies for it. As Angela Norris, a sultry and complex character in Landman, Larter has drawn both praise and criticism for stepping into a role that unapologetically leans into her sex appeal. But if the internet chatter has bothered her, she isn’t showing it.

“Objectify me. C’mon,” Larter told The Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview, doubling down on her decision to own the part with confidence. Now 49, the veteran actress made clear that she maintains full agency over her creative choices, emphasizing that she would never do anything on set that made her uncomfortable. Instead, she credited series creator Taylor Sheridan with crafting layered roles for women—ones that are just as emotionally rich as they are visually commanding.

While Sheridan’s work has often drawn criticism for the way it depicts female characters, Larter argues that Angela is far more than just a body on screen. “I see the complexity in Angela. She’s navigating ambition, survival, and power in a male-dominated world,” she explained. “That, to me, is what makes her worth playing.”

Building on a breakout first season

Landman, which premiered on Paramount+ in late 2024, quickly became a standout in the crowded streaming landscape. Centered on the high-stakes world of Texas oil, the series explores the intersecting lives of roughnecks, billionaires, and the power brokers who shape America’s fossil fuel future. Billy Bob Thornton stars as Tommy Norris, a crisis manager navigating both corporate corruption and deeply personal family dynamics.

Season 1 closed in January with staggering numbers—35 million global streams—cementing Landman as the most-watched original series in Paramount+ history. The show’s gritty tone, sprawling landscapes, and gritty performances struck a chord with audiences, particularly those who have followed Sheridan’s growing television empire (Yellowstone, 1883, Tulsa King).

Paramount quickly greenlit a second season in March 2025, with production kicking off in April across multiple Texas locations, including Fort Worth and Midland-Odessa. According to Larter, the cast is now “midway through” filming, and the atmosphere on set is more focused and collaborative than ever. “There’s a rhythm to it now,” she shared. “We know who these characters are—we know what’s at stake.”

A cast stacked with heavy hitters

As if the original lineup wasn’t star-studded enough, Landman season 2 is dialing up the Hollywood wattage. Most notably, Oscar-nominated actor Sam Elliott has joined the series as a key character set to work closely with Thornton’s Tommy. Known for his gravitas and iconic voice, Elliott brings a new dimension to the show’s rugged Texan landscape.

Also making waves is Demi Moore, whose character Cami had a brief but intriguing presence in season 1. Larter teased that Moore’s role will be significantly expanded this season—and fans can expect a pivotal scene between Angela and Cami. “There’s a reckoning coming,” Larter hinted. “It’s going to be electric.”Other new and returning cast members include Michelle Randolph, Jon Hamm,  Kayla Wallace, and Jacob Lofland. With this expanded ensemble, season 2 promises to dig deeper into personal rivalries, corporate power plays, and the often unseen social costs of oil wealth.

Embracing the evolution of Angela Norris

For Larter, returning as Angela means pushing the character further—emotionally, psychologically, and physically. While some viewers might view her primarily through the lens of desire, Larter insists that Angela’s strength lies in her survival instincts. “She knows how to weaponize perception,” she said. “That’s not weakness. That’s strategy.”

Indeed, in a world where power is often traded behind closed doors, Angela’s ability to read a room—and control it—makes her one of the show’s most intriguing characters. Larter’s performance in season 1 balanced glamour with grit, vulnerability with ambition, creating a woman who feels just as capable of cutting a deal as she is of cutting ties.

And with production now in full swing, Larter said she’s relishing the opportunity to deepen Angela’s arc. “There’s more at stake for her now. She’s in deeper, and the risks are higher,” she revealed. “But so is the payoff.”

What to expect in season 2

While plot details remain tightly under wraps, insiders say season 2 will explore even higher stakes in both business and personal relationships. Expect more betrayals, shifting alliances, and a deeper look at the human cost of energy domination. The writing team is reportedly focusing on character development while still delivering the high-octane drama fans have come to expect.

Angela’s story, in particular, is said to play a more central role this season—as both a romantic foil and a power player in her own right. The complex relationship between Angela and Tommy is poised to evolve, possibly in unexpected directions. Fans won’t have to wait too long. While Paramount+ hasn’t released an exact premiere date, Landman season 2 is expected to return later this year or in early 2026.

Power, agency, and heat

As Landman heads into its next chapter, Ali Larter’s unapologetic embrace of her role is a reminder that power on screen doesn’t always come in conventional packaging. Angela Norris may be seductive—but she’s also smart, strategic, and layered. And for Larter, that’s where the real thrill lies.

“This isn’t just a show about oil,” she said. “It’s a show about power—who has it, who wants it, and what people will do to keep it.” And if that means stirring up a little controversy along the way? Larter, clearly, is more than ready.
